While I was the head of the Language Arts department at Holt, … Artemis [was] often the first out-of-house choice for editorial development of secondary language arts materials. The reasons for that choice were simple---thorough understanding
of complex and sequenced skills matrices aligned with state standards; clear and thoughtful age-appropriate student and teacher materials and a
keen grasp and love for the literature selections
that are the basis for language arts instruction at
